Solaced by Reflection

What is the ultimate goal?
Perhaps it's aspiring to contribute something of real value.
Helping others that we care about deeply can inspire us for a lifetime.
There's always a place in the world for those willing to give their energy,
 time, creativity and commitment.

As I form new relationships, take on new challenges in my career,
encounter obstacles, and celebrate accomplishments in life,
I take the time to remind myself of who I’ve come to be on my own terms,
not who other people have deemed me to be.

Calming my inner critic is a work in progress,
but there is one tool that I have found invaluable for being more productive;
Researching for,  and writing this blog and teaching KickBox Fitness.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned on my journey so far,
it’s that people can only take from you what you allow.
If you allow others to define who you are,
you give them the power to dictate where your path will lead.

All adversarial activities are won by those setting the agenda
-Angelo Dundee-

Our inner critic helps us live in a way that’s true to our values,
questioning decisions that we might regret later.
The inner critic can also bring down our mood,
self-esteem, and sense of self-worth.

Having strengthened my own nurturing inner voice through this blog,
and through KickBox Fitness
I can now access that voice internally when my critic appears.

I am solaced by striving to be a reflection of my mentors example.

What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.
All that we love deeply becomes a part of us.

The Patriots Blood

The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time
with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
-Thomas Jefferson-
April 15,2013 Boston, Ma.

As our government systematically disarms it's citizens,
the fires and bombs rage on in the streets of Boston........
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and they're families.

 In the councils of government,
we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence,
whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex.
The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties
 or
 democratic processes.
We should take nothing for granted
- President Dwight D. Eisenhower-

How will the government use this tragedy to it's own ends ??

 9/11 theory
There are inconsistencies in the official conclusions,
and evidence was overlooked.

In a 2008 global poll of  people in 17 countries,
A majority in only nine countries believe al Qaeda was behind the attacks.

46% of those surveyed believed al-Qaeda was responsible.

15% believed the U.S. government was responsible,

 7% believed Israel was

7% believed some other perpetrator, other than al-Qaeda was responsible.

 Motives or Repercussions:
Justifying the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq,
Geo strategic  interests in the Mideast,
ie: pipeline plans launched in the  1990s  by Unocal and other oil companies.
Did authorities have advance knowledge of the attacks ?
Did they deliberately ignore or assist the attackers ?

When a nation is filled with strife,
then do patriots flourish.
- Lao Tzu -

Two of the hijacked airliners in the Sept. 11 attacks
American Airlines Flight 11,
 and United Airlines Flight 175
 originated at Boston's Logan Airport,
Boston managed to avoid a major terrorist attack.
 Until today. ......

On a rooftop during the explosions in Boston, Ma 4/15/2013

The man on the roof is actually event security.
Even before JFKs' assassination on November 22, 1963
people have been jumping to their own conclusions.

The Warren Commission concluded that 'the lone gunman' killed Kennedy
The Commission and the government covered-up crucial information.
until
The United States House Select Committee on Assassinations (HSCA)
concluded that Kennedy was assassinated as the result of a conspiracy.

A lone drunk teenager running through the Las Vegas airport shut down the TSA process for 45 minutes while hundreds of us stood waiting in line......We have left the management of our nation to a collective of fools and then averted our gaze so as not to see the truth.
-Robb Buckland-

Why do we jump to conclusions following a tragedy ?
Fear !
It is paradoxically comforting to imagine that tragedy is not just time and chance,
but a function of some nefarious, pre-planned grand design.
It gives people a false sense of control.

 We the People....

The man in the cowboys hat is Carlos Arredondo.
He is an immigrant citizen of the U.S. who lost his son in Iraq.

When the explosions happened,
he did not hesitate to run towards the chaos and help.
He held the arteries of victims while waiting for medical professionals.
Carlos Arredondo’s  bravery should be known and applauded.

The twin blasts Monday left three dead and more than 140 wounded.

Arredondo is only the first hero of the 2013 Boston Marathon explosions,

and.... the victims are not the last ones .....

There is no present or future,
only the past,
happening over and over again, now.

The Periphery of Greatness

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long.

And you have burned so very, very brightly.

-Blade runner (1982)-

Benaiah  was a valiant fighter who performed great exploits.

He struck down Moab’s two mightiest warriors.

He also went down into a pit on a snowy day and killed a lion.

He struck down a huge Egyptian

who had a spear in his hand, with a club.

He snatched the spear from the Egyptian’s hand and killed him with it.

Be a Lion Chaser !!

It's not the compromise of the cautious....
but the blood of martyrs that is the seed of greatness.
History doesn't say  Benaiah was a prudent warrior it says he was a valiant one.
A normal person would run away, not a lion chaser !
We don't see 500 pound problems, we see giant opportunities.

We grab life by the mane......
A lion chaser doesn't try to avoid situations where the odds are against them.
A lion chaser knows that going against the odds
sets the stage for unparalleled results.

Those are the experiences that make life worth living.
Those are the experiences worth telling stories about.

Black belt Candidate Robbie 'Bic' Thompson leading Grand Master Buz Durkin

Joe Lewis earned a reputation as a gifted athlete and was obsessed with training.
If he worked late,
he would sneak into a storage closet to get his workouts in while his platoon slept.
He earned his first black belt in just three months time, the second in seven.
He worked out between 3 and 5 hours per day.

You'll never know history's opinion of your story,

'The Animals of Uechi Ryu'

Focus on doing the right thing, and not on other people’s opinion!

I take it personally when a student 'loses their way'.......
But I've learned that I can only show them the path; not walk it for them.

Direct your children onto the right path,

and when they are older, they will not leave it.

Everyone needs a super hero

A Product of Legends

The Batman meets The Beast !

Sandy Hook shooting victim Dylan Hockley couldn't wait to move to America.
Out of school Dylan developed a love of martial arts.
He and his father, and brother Jake trained daily at Extreme Fitness Martial Arts.
Dylan had special educational needs and died in the arms of classroom aide Anne Marie Murphy, who desperately tried to protect him from the killer Adam Lanza.

Martial arts study allows a special needs student to interact with others.
Confidence is another great benefit to all, special needs or otherwise.
Martial arts promotes physical health and development of motor skills.
Martial arts study stimulates brain activity and benefits memory retention.

The video above is an ESPN profile of American Top Teams Garrett Holeve.
Garrett was born with  Downs Syndrome....
MMA training changed him ......
Watch it ..it may change YOU !

What matters most is not what's in the mirror,
It's in the view

Police pulled a man over on Route 29 in Silver Spring Md.
because of a problem with his plates.
The car was a black Lamborghini, the license plate was the Batman symbol,
 and the driver was Batman.

The Caped Crusader is a businessman from Baltimore County..
He visits sick children in hospitals.
up-and-coming superheros trying to beat cancer.

He's not Bruce Wayne, but Lenny B. Robinson,
As he left a little boy cried,
"I want to go help him fight bad guys,"

His mom said, "You need to stay here and help your sister fight cancer."

Lenny and I spent time together in our nations capital and,

I'm proud to say Lenny B. Robinson is my friend and
 my hero ......
