War Chief Pt2

The uncommon mentor.......
He sees the weaknesses in you before you feel the pain of them.
He sees an enemy before you discern him.
He has already experienced the pain of a problem you are about to create.

Mi kmaq isn't blood; its what is in the heart.
The love of the land. The respect for it,those who inhabit it;
and the respect and acknowledgement of the spirits and the elders.

Funny the 'white mans' ignorance calling the Mi kmaq feirce and warlike creatures.
Yet they came and raped the
She heard about a place people were smilin'
They spoke about the red man's way,
how they loved the land
And they came from everywhere
Seeking a place to stand
or a place to hide

The white men came and raped the land,
Nobody caught 'em
Put up a bunch of ugly boxes,
and Jesus people bought 'em
and they called it paradise
The place to be

We satisfy our endless needs and
justify our bloody deeds,
in the name of destiny
and in the name of God

The Eagles "The Last Resort"

I call this "Fierce, warlike creature"dad ; he is the most generous compasionate loving person I know and now Jim Maloney is a Judan....10th Degree Blackbelt.

They say you can't go any higher in Martial Arts than 10th Degree,
I disagree you could be
a 'War Chief"........or a father, a grandfather, a husband, a mentor and a friend.

Thanks Dad for being all of those !!

War Chief Pt1

Maybe your not a protege' but a parasite.
A parasite wants what you've earned not what you've learned.
A parasite wants whats in your hands not what's in your heart.
Are you a protege' or a parasite ?

A mentors suggestion is a command for a protege'
Dr. Mike Murdock

Jim Maloney, 'War Chief' to The Mi'kmaq Nation, The Mi'kmaq are the original natives of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick parts of Newfounland, Quebec and Maine.

To get Jimmy going when he was sparring, Bob Bethoney would pound out an Indian war drum beat on the floor louder and louder. It was as if to call the Indian Chiefs' spirits to come down and join Jim's body. After that jimmy was fighting like a God. When you look at the last scene in the movie THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS, where the father having seen his son killed, rushes up the mountain slaying dozens of Indians without breaking his stride and with the eye of the tiger in Mooshin , finally gets to the person who killed his son and is able to take revenge with violence of action, power and technique.......that is Jimmy.

Bruce Lee visited George Mattsons' Dojo once and Jim had a chance to fight Bruce; in fact there is a picture in Bruce Lee's book with Jimmy and Bruce squaring off.

Maloney's fighting speed in those days was phenomenal.

Bruce only weighed 127 lbs back then. He had a hard time against Jim who would charge him behind a wauke screen sweeping away his kicks.

In this shot you can see Bruce Lee about to be taken down by Maloney.

Uechi has the 'straight blast' similar to WC but with open chain palms out of seisan that are extremely effective for short stop and take downs.

 Bruce wasn't used to that.

In a conversation with Van Canna, Jimmy said that the exchanges were many and Bruce used some of the photos for his book of the action shots.

Van said, Bruce was trying to close the distance with fast kicks,
but couldn't and that Jimmy had to take it easy on him because he weighed only 127 pounds. George Mattson was telling Jimmy ‘Take it easy’ for fear he’d knock him to the floor. Jimmy did confirm he got his wauke under his side and round kicks several time in a jamming fashion, off balancing him, but holding him up so he wouldn't fall.

State of Grace

Theology describes perseverance as a continuing state of grace until death.

Success is no accident it's hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all a love of what your doing or learning to do. 'Heart' is that extra something that separates the achiever from the rest, it's the passion and stamina that makes dreams reality despite adversity.

Spiderman has an indomitable will that gives him the determination to accomplish all his goals. He grew up with two very moral and righteous people who taught him to always do the right thing, and more importantly, to never give up. His Aunt May and Uncle Ben instilled the virtues of perseverance, determination, willpower, a moral compass, work ethic, and kindness. Spiderman is relentless in his pursuit of justice for all, and his alter ego, Peter Parker, is just as relentless in his goals of making his own way and succeeding both in school and life.

An occasional Team Fearless student, Connor Hood shares a lot of the same attributes as the web slinger. The day before his first indoor track meet Connor could hardly left his leg after a 'slip and fall'. We worked on a few stretches in an effort to regain some of his flexibility so he could still compete. HE DID IT !!!

The most important things in your life may never be seen they can only be felt by the heart. The sacrifice, the pain and the overcoming it even in the smallest acts is the secret to success and happiness.

Have passion for what you do. Pursue tirelessly your dreams because without a fighters heart your life will be like a sunless garden, full of dead flowers.

Train on ! See you in class, Join our journey...........

Fearless Fitness/Martial Arts: And so this is Christmas

And so this is Christmas

Christmas has always been a holiday celebrated carelessly.
Pagans, Christians, Jews are swept away in the season’s festivities,
few ever consider the celebration’s intrinsic meaning, history, or origins.

Named a saint in the 19th century,  Nicholas was born in Turkey in 270 CE and later was among the most senior bishops who created the New Testament.
He died in 345 CE on December 6th.

In 1087, a group of sailors who idolized Nicholas  gave each other gifts during a pageant they conducted annually on the anniversary of Nicholas’ death, December 6.

The Nicholas cult spread and was adopted by German and Celtic pagans that worshiped  Woden  the father of Thor.  Woden had a long, white beard and rode a horse through the heavens one evening each Autumn.  After the 'merger'  he shed his Mediterranean appearance, grew a beard, mounted a flying horse, rescheduled his flight for December, and donned heavy winter clothing.

The Catholic Church adopted the Nicholas cult and taught that he did (and they should) distribute gifts on December 25th instead of December 6th.

In 1809, the novelist Washington Irving wrote a 'Knickerbocker History'
The satire refers to the white bearded, flying-horse riding Saint Nicholas
by his Dutch name, Santa Claus.

Dr. Clement Moore, published a poem,“The night before Christmas" in 1822 portraying a Santa with eight reindeer who descended through chimneys.

In 1931, the Coca Cola Corporation contracted the Swedish commercial artist to create a coke-drinking Santa. modeled on his friend Lou Prentice, chosen for his cheerful, chubby face.  The corporation insisted that Santa’s suit be
Coca Cola red.  And Santa was born – a blend of Christian crusader,
pagan god, and commercial idol.

Many who are excitedly preparing for their Christmas celebrations would prefer not knowing about the holiday’s real significance.  If they do know the history, they often object that their celebration has nothing to do with the holiday’s monstrous history and meaning.  “We are just having fun.”

Now ya know, dont believe everything you hear when it comes to LIFE, LOVE & MARTIAL ARTS or FITNESS for that matter , do your homework.
Taking the easy road generally is just 'convenient truth' .

Your real friends know whats being said
even when no one is talking.

I can only show you something real,
I can't make you appreciate it.
Keep it real !!!
