The Truth

Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact.
Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.

-Marcus Aurelius-

Successful or not,
we tell our stories the way we wanted them to be,
not necessarily as they actually happened.
Our stories have certain events removed, certain interactions re scripted,
 and certain motivations adjusted,
so that the story in its retelling more closely aligns with our world view,
and how we want others to view us.

 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge;
the ears of the wise seek it out.

Proverbs 18:15

  In the fight game........
the basics are very complex for someone who has never done them before.
Failure is eminent without the intent and knowledge of how to employ them in a
 combative environment.

NO BATTLE PLAN SURVIVES CONTACT WITH THE ENEMY

-Helmuth von Moltke the Elder-

McDonald's sells junk food, we all know this.
There is NO nutritional value,
were not going to see McDonald's going out of business any time soon.
Women's self defense programs in many cases, seem to be on the same path.
Make money giving people what they think they want: fast results with little effort.

There are three types that would bring violence to our lives.....

The severely disturbed

Those in great need

Those who enjoy acts of violence

These mindsets are important to understand, they don't reflect normal thinking.
Most people pretend such thought process don't exist.
If you deny this reality you cannot understand or empathize with the threat.

Home of the Brave

A Christmas story,
Garbage men have saved more lives than every policeman and paramedic combined, ever.
So did the designers of the sewer systems in major citys.

Good deeds. Heroically good deeds. And done every day.
  People who are nice everyday,
 make the world better everyday.
  Not just on Christmas.

-Rory Miller-

There are many unsung heroes in our communities.
Volunteers at animal shelters to those serving meals to the elderly,
single parents and our underpaid educators.
These people pass under the radar and are unrecognised for there efforts.

The theft of your passion....

Mainstream media and politicians misdirect your attention and cause a 'split focus'.

 The Anti-Defamation League (ADL)
wants the government to regulate the purchase/possession of firearms.
The League urged, "Do this to keep guns out of the hands of violent bigots."
They also claim to be deeply concerned about the possession and use of firearms by children.

Home of the brave ?

Our government promotes a justice system based on reform and reeducation.
How about educating children on the proper use of firearms,
firearms safety & unarmed self defense.

What if Vicky Soto had been armed or trained ?

"Assault" rifles are used least in murders but are demonized by politicians.
 Clearly,
the Government fears militarily effective weapons in the hands of the it's people.

Whats next.....?
Perhaps I should register my hands !!!

'Uncrowned Champion'
One such boxer was tough enough to be nicknamed ” Bad “.
He was Bennie Briscoe from Philadelphia.
He was the most feared middleweight of his era.
If you were bad there, you were bad everywhere.

Briscoe turned pro in 1962 and would win his first fifteen contests.
Bennie was among the middleweight elite.
In 1970 Bennie began to make his march to the world’s middleweight title.

He won eleven straight fights.1973.

In 1973 Briscoe would then go undefeated in his next thirteen bouts.
He won nine and drew in four.
By 1977 any middleweight who dreamed of becoming champion
had to meet Bennie.

His legacy,

96 fights against many of the toughest welterweights and middleweights of his day.
He won 66 fights and an amazing 53 of those by knockout.
He was stopped only once in his career.
His record reads like a who’s who of boxing in that era.
If ever an uncrowned "champion" fighter deserved the Hall Of Fame,

 it's Bennie Briscoe.

Let’s honor all of our unsung heroes past and present.
When you live on a round planet, there’s no choosing sides
Lives have been changed forever because of their courage,
tolerance, and perseverance.
 They deserve it.

Heard it before..?

Just because you've said something a thousand times
doesn't mean your students have heard it a thousand times.

As a sales trainer and a martial arts trainer/coach a common term is,
It's not so much you need to be taught as you need to be reminded.

I often experiment with different teaching and training methodologies.
It gives diferent perspective,
keepin it fresh or more importantly  presenting differing viewpoints,
improves the likelyhood of 'striking a cord' with a student or client.
As a student it's important to remind your self that you are a participant in life,
 not just an observer.
You may not 'get it' right away and thats ok, we're all wired differently.

We are what we repeatedly do.
  -Aristotle-

You've been told this every Holiday season...so I repeat...

Replace aerobic exercise such as running with strength training,
This will help prevent age-related fat gain.
Research shows distance runners gain fat and increase waist size as they age.
Sprint/interval training is the best conditioning method for fat loss,
Use a precise interval program in order to get results.
A round timer can help with precise work /rest intervals.

Enjoy this Holiday season while staying true to your goals....

Joe Lewis on Okinawa-Te

“The original system had a complete arsenal of weapon and non-weapon skills.
It had the perfect blend of old-school pain-tolerance training,
and scientific skills that utilized the least amount of effort and time to produce the maximum amount of damage. Its weaknesses are the amount of time it takes to learn all the long animal forms (there are 36, with one having up to 500 moves) and a lack of ‘balanced’ ground maneuvers.”

No system or methodology is complete,
or has all the answers but some are better than most.

Stay true to your goals, seek council through fellowship with like minded people
 and
' Innovate don't Immitate' !!!
