The Limitation of Tollerance
In the days of the Roman Empire,
a Macedonian king invading Egypt was orderded to withdraw by a lone Roman senator.
The king began to stall for time, so the senator drew a circle in the sand around the king
He demanded the king agree to withdraw his army before he stepped out of the circle.
The king, impressed by the senator's nerve...
( more likely, by the Roman Empire in general), withdrew.
This account is verified by contemporary historians,
it may be the only known instance of a line drawn in the sand actually stopping someone.
We must understand the true dynamics of a fight,
and train inside the priorities of the most likely situation.
they’re very successful in reality combat, even with their limited striking ability.
Aikijutsu/Jujitsu
Aikijujitsu off-balances an opponent before leveraging him.
Jujutsu utilizes straight leverage..which is less effective.
Both are good systems to bridge the gap between sport and reality fighting.
Boxing
Few Martial Arts use the head to protect the head,
the body to protect the body, or teach defence from 'the pocket'.
These three defensive skills are paramount in reality martial arts.
Boxing is also great for conditioning and pain tolerance.
Kickboxing
Offers the very best of realistic upright fighting skills.
If youlearn the old muay boran knees, elbows, the heatbutt,
the bleeding and cutting techniques, and the old scool takedowns

We must understand the true dynamics of a fight,

We need to be absolute in our knowledge of
our capabilities and limitations.
We need to know the enemy
Pre attack indicators, common tactics, and deceptions.
We must train with "visualization."
Then.....
bring all of this knowledge to the range.
Do not just run a drill!
Train the mind!

JUDO
The best bouncers I’ve met were judo black belts.
Judoka spend most of their time doing tug-of-war-type drills with partners on the mat,

Uechi Ryu Karate
Has an effective composition of quick strikes (cutting and tissue-ripping moves)
to vital areas like the eyes, ears, face, neck and groin.
It had the perfect blend of old-school, pain-tolerance training with scientific skills.
It takes least amount of time/effort to produce the maximum amount of damage.
Bando
Has highly effective defensive techniques from old-school tactics.
Largely developed years ago in Southeast Asia along trade routes,
Like Uechi Ryu.......
It contains bleeding techniques, head striking, knee strikes and elbows,
low-level flange kicks, and drop kicks not taught in other kickboxing styles.

Victory or defeat is not determined at the moment of crisis,
but rather in the long and unspectacular period of preparation.
Bakari Akil II (Ph.D), a Professor at Middle Georgia College and a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu martial artist, conducted a study to find out what percentage of fights go to the ground.
In summary the study discovered the following:
- 42% of fights ended up with both people on the ground.
- 72% ended with at least one person on the ground.
Where at least one person was grounded
- 57% went down due to a throw or a take down,
- 7% were pushed,
- 35% from being punched and 1% were downed from a kick
- 57% of the time the person who hit the ground first lost the fight .
- 33% were a draw (no discernable winner)
- 8% went on to win the fight.
These figures were reversed for those who hit the ground second or stayed standing.
Sounds like the ground game is important !! But striking is paramount !!
The Offensive/Predator Mindset
If someone is trying to hurt you, you must render him/her incapable of doing so.
How will you stop a human predator ?
Violence of action !
No matter how big your opponent is ...they are just 7 pints of blood in a skinsack.
The spine is protected by thin rings of of fragile bone.
The arms and legs are like 'ropes to the spine'.

The consequence of condecension
Whaaaat?
How many times have you read , said, or written something and then said ....Whaaaat?
Interpretation of text, talk or otherwise is magnificantly and sometimes detrimentaly diverse.
Everyone has an internal dialogue going through their heads.
Just because you hear these “voices” it doesn’t mean you are crazy.
Most of what these voices tell you is negative.
If you hear these negative things often enough, you come to believe them.
So often, we choose to just accept our limiting beliefs,
not because we truly think they are correct, but because it’s easier to do so.
Rarely do we consider the impact that our limiting beliefs have on us.
All we think about is how our beliefs let us take the easy way out.
Fortune has rarely condescended to be the companion of genius

Archie Moore 'The Mongoose',
was the oldest fighter ever to hold a world championship.
He lost 26, 7 by knockout !
Moore was generally considered a light heavyweight contender.
Until he began a public relations campaign on his own behalf,
he couldnt get a title shot !!
In 234 recorded bouts, he knocked out 145 opponents, a record.
(more known knockouts than any boxer in history).
He won 54 other fights by decision.
He lost 26, 7 by knockout
and also fought 8 draws and 1 no-contest.
Moore's early boxing career is still being researched, as of 2011 !!
In his career 'The Mongoose' fought legends of the ring;
Muhammad Ali, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson and Yvon Durelle.
Moore trained George Foreman and James Tillis.
Shortly after his professional debut,
Ali's management sent him to be trained by Moore.
Ali refused to do the chores that were part of Moore's training regimen,
and the two parted ways.

and descendeth into the visible:
I call such condescension, beauty.

By age 15, Joan Jett created The Runaways.
The Runaways were.. Lita Ford, Cherie Currie, Kari Krome, and Sandy West.
Jett sang lead vocals for the band,
played rhythm guitar and also wrote many of The Runaway’s songs.
The Runaways eventually split up in 1980 and the girls went their separate ways.
Joan formed a new group, The Blackhearts.
They were rejected by 23 labels in the United States
After their rejection, she decided to create her own label.
The group toured for a year and then released their first record I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.
Reaction to the new album was immediate.
“I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll” went to the very top of the Billboard charts.
It remained the number one song in America for seven weeks.

I remember Joe Lewis telling me....
If you don't quit, if you look like you know how to fight,
and you desire to stick around and learn from me and my black belt fighters,
I'll give you a black belt.
Give me 11 minutes of your life with all your heart, and I'll teach you for life.

The Vision
When we come close to those things that break us down,
we touch those things that also break us open.
In that breaking open, we uncover our true nature.
we touch those things that also break us open.
In that breaking open, we uncover our true nature.

I'm American. I'm eclectic. I'm going to follow my passions.
If people don't like it, and it hurts my legacy, I'm not going to worry about that.
We can never die as long as someone still speaks our name.
We are about undoing learned helplessness.
A student must overcome their fear in order to truly become what they desire.
I think this covers all categories that they enter into training for.
Inclusive of their preconceived notions.......
as a foundation to work with and develop from.

There are still many levels of wolves (or Gorillas).
Some will be ferocious and able to protect the pack (troop),
others will be strong/clever/skilled enough to be part of the team.
We will provide opportunity for all but exceptions for none.
A wreath in Loving Memory of our friend & mentor Joe Lewis
In a recent conversation with Bill 'Superfoot' Wallace, Danny Dring,
Terry Dow and Anthony Albanese;
we dicussed necessary adjustments that would enhance
students skill sets...............
The lay of the land is fluid, moving, changing.
Stop trying to dam the river,
you could use its tremendous power to deliver you downstream.
Efficiency isn’t about wrestling the world to its knees by domination and control;
it is about being exactly, precisely who you are.
The straightest paths will then arise.
You won’t have to choose them for they will choose you.
Life and nature have their own paths
From our viewpoint they might be taking the long way,
but we don’t see everything.
It’s a serious error to think that our perspective is “the truth.”
